Dear church family
This is a quick update from our elders about the way in which our church services are structured and ordered. As you probably know, from time to time our church revisits the way in which our services are structured to respond to what we believe is currently necessary for the church, and to adapt to things that have become a bit stale. We wanted to let you know about some adjustments we thought would be helpful for us as we go forward.
So what is changing?
- Announcements at the beginning: We will now start the service with our community announcements. This means that our announcements won’t cut the worship service itself in half and will help ensure that the service flows without interruption. After the announcements the Elder on duty or, at times, one of our song leaders will read a passage of scripture that calls the congregation to worship God.
- Offerings: As most of our giving is already done through direct debits or online methods, we will no longer have a dedicated time during the service for offerings. Instead, offering details will be shared during announcements. Of course we will still have all the regular methods of giving available to you, and you are welcome to make your offerings during the announcement time itself.
- Music and worship: We will no longer have a reflection song after the sermon and discussion questions, instead we will have a song in response to the Sermon after our discussion time. This will give us time to reflect on God’s word together and then respond together in song and praise. We believe this new structure will provide a more natural flow into fellowship after the service.
The rest of the service will remain basically the same.
As with all changes, we welcome your thoughts and feedback. Please feel free to reach out to Me, or Peter Williams, or one of the elders if you would like to share your feedback or to ask any questions you may have.
Blessings Chris P
