Register Now: Teach the Bible – Starting Monday! Learn to Prepare and Present God’s Word!

Hi Everyone,

Now is your chance to register for Teach the Bible. As we have been teasing for a few weeks, the next course to help equip people to share God’s Word is our Teach the Bible course. It starts next week 10 November, Monday night, at 7:30pm over zoom. My apologies for the late notice, but hopefully we can all be there!

This is a course designed for Growth Group leaders, and those who want to be equipped to preach. Each night will be taught over zoom, and then week 6 will be in person practicing our presentation skills. The details are all listed below. Please note that this is a weekly session over 6 weeks, rather than a fortnightly session.

Course Rhythm
Each topic runs across two weeks:
  • Week 1 is the theory — short teaching with guided examples.
  • Week 2 is the practice — a full workshop or lab where you apply what you’ve learned to a real passage.
This pattern helps you learn the concept one fortnight and master it the next.

What You’ll Learn
Weeks 1–2: What does the Bible say? (Zoom)
We start with how to find the Big Idea of any passage. You’ll learn to trace a text’s message through its theme, the human need or “fallen condition” it exposes, the timeless truth it reveals about God, and how it all points to Christ. In the first week you’ll see how the framework works in passages like Mark 10, and in the second week you’ll practise it yourself on Genesis 22 in a guided lab.

Weeks 3–4: What should I say? (Zoom)
Next, we move from understanding to shaping what we’ll say. You’ll learn how to turn a Big Idea into a simple 2–4-point outline that follows the flow and tension of the passage. In the first week we’ll explore how good structure serves clarity; in the second week you’ll apply it in a live “Exposition Lab” on 1 Kings 18, crafting an outline together from scratch.

Weeks 5–6: How should I say it? (Zoom except week 6 which is in person)
Finally, we focus on communicating with warmth and conviction. You’ll learn to use stories, images, and gospel-shaped applications that bring truth to life. Week 5 develops your creative toolbox through illustration and application practice. Then in Week 6, you’ll deliver a short talk or Bible study, receive encouraging feedback, and take part in a short commissioning moment celebrating what God has done in you.

What You’ll Experience
  • Clear, engaging teaching followed by real practice every fortnight.
  • Coaching and feedback from experienced Bible teachers.
  • Encouragement from others learning alongside you.
  • A final Delivery Workshop to celebrating your growth.
By the end, you’ll be ready to craft faithful, Christ-centred talks or lead Bible studies that truly connect hearts to Scripture.

Optional Extra Reading
For those who want to go deeper, we recommend Christ-Centred Preaching by Bryan Chapell. This is not essential though since the core ideas are already woven into the course.
