Dear Website
We previously announced the Selah evening happening this Sunday at 7pm at church. I wanted to take this time to give you some more information about what this very special Selah evening is all about.
As you may know we have been organising the Selah evenings as a time to press pause on our busy lives and refocus our hearts on Christ. This time we are going to be drawing from my own research into what it means to be spiritually healthy as a Reformed believer and we are going to be reflecting on four key areas that God has given us as spiritual beings. These areas are a focus on God’s greatness (the transcendent), who we are as followers of Jesus (the individual), how we love and serve others (the communal), and how creation reveals God’s majesty (the environmental). So this evening is designed to help us engage with God and with one another in every sphere of life.
What to expect:
First we will sing songs of praise and worship reflecting each of these areas. Songs proclaiming God’s greatness Songs affirming who we are in Christ Songs inspiring us to love and serve our neighbours Songs celebrating how creation reveals His majesty
Then we will pause for a reflective prayer exercise. This will give us a quiet moment to prayerfully gauge where we are spiritually and then to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us we each consider our next steps in growth.
Finally we will sing another four songs again: Songs proclaiming God’s greatness Songs affirming who we are in Christ Songs inspiring us to love and serve our neighbours Songs celebrating how creation reveals His majesty
After we finish there will be space to linger, to share some light refreshments and to enjoy each other’s company.
So whether you feel spiritually vibrant just now or a little dry, this evening is for you. Come ready to listen, sing, reflect and be refreshed by the Holy Spirit.
I look forward to seeing you there!
