1) In this passage why were the people looking for Jesus?

2) What do you think Jesus means with his answer in v26-27?

3) What does this reveal about the hearts of humanity?

4) In what ways do people look to Jesus for “quick fixes”?

5) The people want to know what they can do to “perform the works of God”. Based on Jesus’
response, we understand this question to be similar to the one the rich young ruler asked “What
must I do to be saved?”. Jesus responds with “This is the work of God – that you believe in the one
he has sent”. Is this belief a type of good work? Why or why not?

6) The people following Jesus seem incredibly slow to understand Jesus’ meaning. Why do you think it
is so hard for them to grasp what he is trying to teach them about the nature of salvation?

7) In what ways does Jesus, the bread of life, satiate our hunger? To put it another way, how does he
fulfil our needs?

8) Contrast that to a time where you thought something would really satisfy you, but left you wanting
more.

9) Jesus says that consuming him will satisfy us eternally. What is one way in which we can grow in
finding fulfilment in Jesus rather than earthly “fleshy” things?
